Description
A serious classical work by Mexican composer Mario Lavista for solo cello and piano. First published in 1994, the composer explains, the “Tres Danzas Seculares (Three Secular Dances) attempt to make audible three momentsof the courtship of imaginary birds.” Progressing through the three movements in slow-fast-slow fashion, the work begins with a slow-moving harmonic dialogue between the two instruments and concludes with a melody of cello harmonics that leads to a three-voice canon. A fantastic work to showcase the beautiful pairing of the cello and piano.
